For the moon waxing occasion, I, did something I've yet (til then) done; watch TV for ten hours straight! That's right, glued to the gogglebox watching sexed up people on Desperate Housewives. Well, it was raining!
My fond memories of the Mid-Autumn Festival was definitely way more exciting than Sunday's activity.
To begin with, most years of my primary school period, i remember having a few paper lanterns being lit by my ma and I'll walk around the house with 1 or 2 til i got bored and would hang it on the iron board in my room.
When i was a teen, i went to the beach with a girlfriend and we did the most juvenile thing going around 'boo-ing' people in tents. The wind was strong that night and we had to crouch behind a tree trying our darndest best to light our lanterns against the natural force.
In school, we'd sit outside our classroom during recess and have mooncakes and packet green tea. It was quite an experience as the rule was that noone was to stay in but did we care...that was the first time i'd a taste of snowskin mooncakes, mmm. It was a quaint affair in a funny little way. My classroom was next to a wide ledge connected to the next building and a bold gf climbed over amidst all our excited cries.
A few years on...
I met up with an ex-colleague and we'd fun with our souvenir lanterns at the Chinese Garden. We had a little photo shoot at the top of the tower there and everywhere around the decorated park.
Monday, i couldn't resist a stroll after dinner at (10+) and went out with my lantern, alone. Mother didn't fail to remind me how insane and childish i was.
Did i care...
The moon was high in the sky, wasn't so pretty/ stunning as when i saw it 3hours before, but i still like the walk. That sums up my Mid-Autumn Festival musings..so far. There is more to come!
