Oct 14 Morn' Thoughts, Continued Today

Read this in ODB yesterday:
"It is very difficult to try (requiring effort and exertion) to relax (requiring an absence of effort and exertion). Try and relax just don't seem to fit together-" to wthich Bill Crowder was describing our relationship with God.
A dentist might tell you to 'try to relax' when you are just laying there in wait of the dreaded drill, but that's kind of hard to do, isn't it? Same thing in the spiritual sense. We are not pressing for God's purposes but our own interests and the hardest thing to do is to try and relax and genuinely trust God for the outcome of life's trials, but that's exactly what we have to do.
(Psalm 46:10: Be still and know) God knows our future and we are safe in his hands.

I don't get those people with English names who only speak Chinese. They are more comfortable in the latter language and will continue talking in it if you've the same linguistic skill, so there's no effort in wanting to improve. What the heck is with the Angmoh name then!?! Really, just EDUCATE the person who can’t pronounce your name right, don’t change your identity with an English name. It’s not like you’re going to buck up on your spoken English with a new name.

Frankly, I'm absolutely fine with the idea of foreign help, but being in the service/ retail sector and not able to speak English, that's plain ridiculous. So far my experiences with them til Monday's shopping trip, were only based in ‘HK cafes’ and I insert the quotation marks because apparently, majority of the staff are China-nationals who make no effort to ask for your orders in the International Language of Communication- English. The menu also consists of Chinese delights like MACAU noodles, hey, China!

I’m not, i shall reiterate, not ANTI-Chinese, because I AM ONE TOO.
It’s just dismal that even places like 77th Street has China-Chinese employees now that go “huh?” when a question is put to them in English, but answered immediately when translated to Mandarin. 77th Street is so Westernised in terms of their offerings, like hip-hop/ surfer wear, why the pippins are chingchongchinggets there…
